by adminWeight class requirement vary depending upon the sanctioning body of a particular fight (such as WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO), but for the sake of this reference the following weight classes and their corresponding maximum allowable weight are in accordance with the WBA (in other words, the upper weight limit for each class is the lower limit of the next highest class):
- Heavyweight: Over 200 pounds
- Cruiserweight: 200 pounds
- Light Heavyweight: 175 pounds
- Super Middleweight: 168 pounds
- Middleweight: 160 pounds li>
- Super welterweight: 154 pounds
- Welterweight: 147 pounds
- Super lightweight: 135 pounds
- Lightweight: 126 pounds
- Super featherweight: 130 pounds
- Featherweight: 126 pounds
- Super bantamweight: 122 pounds
- Bantamweight: 118 pounds
- Super flyweight: 115 pounds
- Flyweight: 112 pounds
- Light flyweight: 108 pounds
- Minimumweight: 105 pounds
The weigh-in takes place the day before the fight when boxers typically stand on the scales barefoot and without gloves. Any boxer who is over the maximum weight limit may strip naked to make the weight if the excess is minimal.
